EDEN Programme – Embracing Dementia Empowering Neighbourhoods

     EDEN Programme

NICE 2006, state within their recommended interventions that people with mild-to-moderate dementia should be offered the opportunity to participate in a structed group, cognitive stimulation programme irrespective of drug treatment for cognitive symptoms.

Each week covers a different theme based on cognitive stimulation therapy, the only recommended non-pharmacological intervention for mild to moderate dementia.

If you or someone you know is interested in attending, a Pre-assessment is always completed prior to starting the group to ensure the suitability of each person.

Eden encourages people to be engaged and active keeping in mind the members level of ability and play to their strengths and capabilities, adapting the days plan where necessary.  EDEN does not put anyone ‘on the spot’ but encourages participation from each member.  EDEN is based on a ‘person-centred’ approach, making it enjoyable for each person attending.
